Morgan Park Academy Reviews

Very good teachers K-5...Some weak teachers 6-8...Teachers are very slow to communicate when children are having problems in the classroom...Campus is old...very little technology based learning...small classrooms...good sports program...if you are not on the inside watch out... price for value not that great.

This is a great school with dedicated faculty and staff. My two daughters went on to garner two Masters degrees and are very happy and successful. The proof is in the pudding. My two daughters attended from pre 1st through 12th grade and loved every minute of it. They are both educators now.

This is a good school. But, for the cost associated with the education I was not impressed. I am a former teacher and had to supplement a great deal of my child's education. She has attended MPA for the last 2 years. The teacher to student ratio is great . . . definately a plus. However, some of the Beverly insider parents can be bullies . . so it is obvious to see where some of the children get it from. We decided not to return next year. As an U of C Lab alum myself, I just did not like the underlying social tone of the school.

First of all, the school is not in financial trouble, a few cut backs, but there were no pay cuts for our teachers or staff members. Were that information came from I don't know. I have been a parent at MPA for over 10 years. My children have had a positive and enriching experience at this school. When it comes to bullies, every school has there own. If the problem of bullying gets that bad then the parent should have addressed the principal and/or the headmaster. To leave a school because of bullies, well then you should have home schooled her. There is a reason that the school have been here for over 125 years. We must be doing something right. We are a top ten school in the Chicago area, and have 100% of our seniors going to college every . I would highly recommend this school for you child.

Disregard the hype. The school is in such financial trouble that the teachers had to take a pay cut this year. The principal of the higher school seems to have issues with the majority of the students--unless you are the son or daughter of a high roller. Those students frequently get away with whatever they please (Ask my daughter, who was on the wrong side of the mean girls). Academically, it is a decent school, but that does not equal the tuition. No facilities to speak of, though some teachers and coaches are outstanding. Decent athletics, but if you are not a big wig, learn to ride the bench. We couldn't justify this any longer; our daughter is at a new school and is no longer bullied.

I went here and I absolutely loved it. If you miss one day at this school, you're pretty much missing a lot of fun. I'm challenged enough, and the teachers are very polite and nice. Pick this school!

I became the board president at MPA after I put two daughters through the school because this is one great school. It is true that many buildings are old, but we have updated the classrooms, built new science and language labs and completely remodeled the gym. We place students in the most highly regarded colleges, but we also try to find the right school for each student. Parents who felt that they were not give information on finances or that shool leadership was unwilling to listen to them must have missed the yearly board/community meetings held for just these purposes. I am an insider, but the staff counseled my family about AP programs that my children should not take, as well as those they should. Every child I know participates in extra-curricular actities. MPA's students are diverse, yet very close knit. Don't miss this gem of a shool.
